Hiroshige Boxed Note Cards

The masterful work of artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) represented the height of a long Japanese printmaking tradition. Woodblock prints were enormously popular in Japan during the prosperous Edo period (1615–1868), and Hiroshige’s depictions of the changing seasons, holidays, and everyday life in Edo (now Tokyo) made him one of the country’s most famous and best-selling artists. His style—would have a great influence on the nineteenth-century French Impressionists, encouraging them toward greater abstractionism.

This boxed note card set contains 20 cards and 20 envelopes (5 each of the following woodblock prints): Suijin Shrine, Kiyomizu Hall, Temple Gardens, Chiyogaike Pond

Each card is 5×7”.
