Hinamatsuri (雛祭り), also known as Doll’s Day or Girls’ Day, is a traditional Japanese festival celebrated on March 3rd each year. It’s a day to wish for the health, happiness, and prosperity of young girls. Families with daughters display a set of ornamental dolls called hina-ningyō (雛人形) that represent the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
