Join us for an enchanting evening at our Sunset Strolls. Each evening includes exhilarating Taiko drum performances and a variety of cultural and culinary delights.

Explore the beauty of our gardens at dusk and our themed performances. This event is perfect for a romantic evening out, a family outing, or a peaceful solo adventure. Don’t miss out on this unique and enchanting experience!


2026 Sunset Stroll Dates:

  • April 23, 2026: The Mysteries of Yōkai

    • Yokai (Japanese spirits) Lectures with Marcela Lopez Bravo (Theater)
      Join Marcela Lopez Bravo, FIU Asian Studies Graduate Program Director and Assistant Teaching Professor, for engaging talks exploring the fascinating world of Japanese yokai. Learn what yokai are, where they come from, and the stories behind these legendary creatures.

  • Lecture 1: 5:50 p.m. – 6:05 p.m.
  • Lecture 2: 6:35 p.m. – 6:50 p.m.
  • Lecture 3: 7:20 p.m. – 7:35 p.m.

Admission includes access to the evening’s performances.  Performances in our theater are seated on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event of rain, all showtimes will be adjusted and moved indoors. Please purchase your ticket prior to the date of the event.  Tickets are not available at the door.

  • June 18, 2026: The Significance of Bento Boxes

  • Character Bento Box Demonstrations with Rikiya Kawano (Kamiya Room)
    Join Rikiya Kawano, language instructor at USF, for a discussion and demonstration on the art of character bento boxes. Discover how these creative Japanese lunchboxes combine food, design, and culture to transform everyday meals into edible works of art.

  • September 17, 2026: Japanese Fashion & Cosplay

    • Cosplay Fashion Show hosted by Florida Supercon (Theater)
      Enjoy a vibrant cosplay fashion show featuring creative costumes inspired by popular characters. Experience the artistry, craftsmanship, and fun of cosplay as participants bring their favorite designs to life on the runway.

Fushu Daiko Taiko Group

Enjoy live performances during every Sunset Stroll by Fushu Daiko, South Florida’s premier Japanese taiko drumming ensemble. Celebrating 35 years of taiko in South Florida, Fushu Daiko brings powerful rhythms and high-energy performances that captivate audiences of all ages.

Founded in 1990 and recognized by taiko master Seiichi Tanaka, the group blends traditional and contemporary drumming to create an unforgettable cultural experience.

Koto Performances with Emiko Koto

     

Emiko Koto started her koto studies in 2000 under Mrs. Yoshiko Carlton, the former koto teacher at Morikami. She also had the privilege of learning from Mrs. Kyoko Okamato, the founder of the Washington Toho Koto Society in Washington, D.C. With a solid musical foundation, Mrs. Koto performed with Mrs. Carlton at various venues, including the Morikami Museum, Epcot, conventions, schools, libraries, museums, and attending local festivals and events.
