Bring the whole family and delve into the world of Japanese folklore or stories through kamishibai, Paper Theater. Join us for a reading of these classic stories. Reading starts on the hour with a short related activity to follow.

 

  • October 7th, 2021: “The Mouse’s Wedding” (Virtual program) Father Mouse sets off to find the mightiest creature in the world for his daughter to marry. He approaches the Sun, the Cloud, the Wind, and the Wall and in the end, believes that he has learned who is the mightiest of all.

 

  • January 6th, 2022: “Hats for the Jizos” A poor old man and his wife are mysteriously rewarded for their unselfish generosity on New Year’s Eve.

 

  • April 7th, 2022: “Momotaro, the Peach Boy” A baby, found inside a peach, grows into a boy of amazing strength. This is a story of how he learns to use that strength wisely.
