Dear Friends of the Morikami,
The Morikami staff and I have been thinking about how we all need spaces that slow us down—places where we can breathe, reflect, and simply be. This is a season in which we have the space to reflect deeply on gratitude for our loved ones—but also for you, whose generosity makes our work possible!
We want to express our appreciation for your support, which in this last year made it possible for 200,000 visitors to slow down and find that sanctuary at Morikami. They walked our galleries and wandered our garden paths. They sat beside still rock gardens and flowing waterfalls. They all discovered something they didn’t know they were searching for. And for 40,000 children, teens, and young adults, Morikami became something even more profound—a place where they learned to understand themselves and others through the timeless wisdom of Japanese culture.
The numbers tell part of our story. But what matters most are the moments we can’t measure: the child who was excited to fold a paper crane for their family; the visitor who sought solace in our gardens during a season of grief; the senior who, through our outreach, felt revitalized and connected.
As we plan for our 50th Anniversary in 2027—just 400 days from today—we are deepening our commitment to creating more unmeasurable moments. From exhibitions that illuminate the brave Japanese American heroes in WWII’s 442nd—the most highly decorated unit for its size and service in US military history—to bold installations of monumental outdoor origami sculptures. From peaceful gardens to new outreach programs that bring the Morikami to those who need it most.
But we need your help to accomplish all we do!
Your gift today ensures that in 2026 and beyond, the Morikami remains a place where:
- Visitors encounter world-class exhibitions and inspiring art, inside and out
- Gardens remain a vital sanctuary, meticulously cared for and conserved
- Underserved children discover their creativity and worth through MORY programs
- Communities experience the beauty and connection the Morikami offers
Will you help us continue this vital work? Your gift of any amount matters deeply.
Thank you for being a part of our Morikami family. We are so grateful for your generous support!
With warm wishes for a peaceful holiday season,

Bonnie White LeMay
Museum Director
P.S. Every gift received by December 31 goes to work immediately, supporting exhibitions, enriching young lives, caring for our gardens, and bringing the Morikami to all who need what these gardens offer.
