In celebration of the Sogetsu Ikebana Florida Branch’s 55th Anniversary, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is proud to present a special Ikebana demonstration on January 24, 2026, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. This commemorative event will feature esteemed guest Ken Katayama, Master Instructor of the Sogetsu Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

Meet the Presenter

Mr. Katayama began his career with the Sogetsu School in 1962 and worked closely with its successive headmasters, including founder Sofu Teshigahara. Based in Fukuoka, Japan, he has led demonstrations across Asia, the United States, Europe, and Australia. His works have been exhibited at renowned venues such as The Andy Warhol Museum (Pittsburgh, PA, U.S.A.) and Kego Shrine in Fukuoka. In 2021, he received the Fukuoka City Cultural Award for his lifelong contributions to the art of Ikebana. Known for his innovative, dynamic style, Mr. Katayama will showcase the expressive beauty of Sogetsu Ikebana in this rare and inspiring demonstration.
