Dear Friends of the Morikami, As we approach the end of 2024, we invite you to help us shine a brighter light on our beloved Morikami Museum. Our beautiful Roji-en gardens and captivating rotating gallery exhibitions draw over 200,000 visitors each year. Our dedicated curatorial staff works tirelessly to present these exhibitions, but proper lighting is essential to truly illuminate their beauty. Lighting: The Heart of the Exhibition From striking spotlights to delicate shading, lighting can transform an exhibition. It enhances the visual impact of the artwork, enriches the visitor experience, and plays a crucial role in preserving these treasured pieces. A Brighter Future with LED After 32 years, it’s time for an upgrade! We aim to replace our current fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting. LEDs not only last longer and are more durable, but they also provide superior light quality and generate less heat, ensuring a safer environment for our collections. Your Support Matters We’re setting an ambitious goal of $90,000 by February 1, 2025, to install these new lighting fixtures in time for our Fall 2025 exhibition. Just as your generosity in 2015 transformed our Morikami Theater, enabling us to showcase films and performances in an enriched atmosphere, your support now will enhance our gallery spaces and allow our Curator to present future exhibitions… in the best light.
