Kazuyuki Ohtsu (b. 1935) began studying traditional woodblock printmaking at the age of 18. He served as the assistant to Kyoshi Saito for 40 years before working on his own. Ohtsu broke from the iconic printmakers – Hiroshige, Hokusai-by handling every step of the print production – from painting the original picture, carving the woodblocks to printing the images.
