Family Fun Day: Hagoita
11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Sakai Room
Hanetsuki is a traditional New Year’s game like badminton that is played with a wooden paddle called a hagoita. Usher in the new year by playing hanetsuki on your own hagoita! FREE with paid museum admission.
Koto New Year Concert
12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Morikami Theater
Celebrate the New Year with a delightful concert with this exquisite instrument performed by the Morikami intermediate students. $5 with paid museum admission.
Omato-shiki Archery Demonstration
12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. outside in the gardens at the concrete pad.
Experience the elegance and discipline of Omato-shiki, a rare and ancient ceremonial form of Japanese archery, performed by members of the Ogasawara-ryū American Branch. FREE with paid museum admission.
