About The Board

Palm Beach County and the Board of Trustees of Morikami, Inc. have been partners in bringing Morikami’s services to the public since opening in 1977. The park and building are the property of Palm Beach County. Morikami Inc., a non-profit corporation, provides financial backing from membership, donations, grants and other revenue-producing activities, and volunteer support for all aspects of the institution’s operations.

Morikami Mission:

Our mission is to engage a diverse audience by presenting Japanese cultural experiences that educate & inspire.

Morikami Vision:

The vision of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is:

  • To be a leading destination for experiencing Japanese culture outside of Japan;
  • To present opportunities for transformative personal experiences;
  • To be a leader in community engagement operating as a public-private partnership.

Committee Meeting Schedules

All dates and times are subject to change and Committee Meetings are set by the chairperson of each committee. If you plan to attend a meeting, please call ahead (561-233-1348) to confirm date, time, and exact location.

There will be a Finance Committee meeting on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room.


Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees shall be held at 4:30 on the third Thursday of each month at the Museum, unless otherwise noticed.

The President may, from time to time, call a Special Meeting of the Board at his or her discretion.

The 2017–2018 schedule is as follows:

December 14 (Meeting will begin at 4 p.m., holiday social at 5 p.m.)



The Committee on Collections will meet on an as needed basis.

The Development, Membership and Special Events Committee meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of the month at 11:30am.


The Education Program & Cultural Events Committee will meet on an as-needed basis.

The Executive and Reaccreditation Committee will meet on an as needed basis.

The Facilities Committee meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of the month at 9:00am.


The Governance & Scholarship Committee meetings are held on an as needed basis.
The Finance, Budget, and Endowment Committee meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 3:30pm.

The Bonsai Garden Committee meeting will be held on the 2nd Friday of the month at 9:00am.
